My beloved MacBook recently slipped into a coma, and I had to replace his hard drive. Fortunately I purchased an external hard drive this summer! Unfortunately the first and only time I used it to back up my files was the day I bought it, May 17th, 2011… Because of this, MacBook’s memory isn’t quite what it was before the accident.

Articles and musings that I had written while I was in Dublin (that never made it into this blog because I was too lazy to finish them) have disintegrated - of them, a short piece based on a wonderful encounter I had with Irish Photographer Christopher Hillen and his hangover after an opening and a fun piece I had been working on about an art exhibit that combined technology and music in Dublin, among others, will never be read, thrown into the void.

I even had some sweet new tunes downloaded that were my total ‘summer jams;’ gone. 2 awesome albums of Manu Chao, some wicked old Modest Mouse albums and Rave On, the tribute album to Buddy Holly - really fun stuff that I’m going to have to slave over another few days surfing the internet to replace. Grr.

But it’s the photographs that I miss the most. Granted I certainly am not a great photographer, but this summer I really flexed some photographic brain power in taking new and different shots, from experimenting with long exposures of the Summer sky along the White Mountains to shooting RAW in Dublin, Belfast, and around Connecticut, I had a lot of fun shooting this summer, and if you were to look at my photo library, you’d might even agree.

But you can’t, because MacBook’s number has been pulled, and I’m sure I could fit in some reference to Memento in here, about memory being feeble, and Sammy Jankis, but I’m just too thick to think of one right now.

There is, however, a slight glimmer of hope - I did upload a few of my personal favorites from Ireland to my Google + account, and some of my backpacking trip are up on Flickr… now if only MacBook had remembered my password, I could get to them…
