Hip-hop Stories
Allston – If you were checking iTunes’ Top Ten Hip-Hop charts on September 13th, you may have noticed something out of the ordinary. While albums from Jay-Z, Kanye West and other hip-hop icons placed throughout the ranks, breaking in at number nine, between Eminem and 2pac, was “This is Our Science,” the latest album of an indie rapper from Minneapolis named Astronautalis. That’s the rap name...

The River, The Woods
I interviewed Minneapolis rapper Astronautalis last month on the last show of his tour for “This is Our Science.” An enthusiastic story teller, he’s spent a vast amount of time touring and gathering experiences, good and bad. “I’ve been to four continents, I’ve seen over 20 countries, I’ve seen almost every state in America except for Alaska and Hawaii.” He said,...

This Is Just To Say
Someone recited this poem to me over dinner earlier this week.  I'm quietly happy I can't stop thinking about it. And I'm getting back into all sorts of poetry now;  I'm sure there's more to come! Poem #274, This Is Just To Say I have eaten the plums that were in the icebox and which you were probably saving for breakfast. Forgive me they were delicious so sweet and so cold. -William Carlos...

22
So I turned 22 today, the one thing I’m starting to hate about getting old is people start expecting serious answers to “What do you want to do?” Honestly, I just want to eat pizza and play Settlers of Catan… womp.

Deletion
My beloved MacBook recently slipped into a coma, and I had to replace his hard drive. Fortunately I purchased an external hard drive this summer! Unfortunately the first and only time I used it to back up my files was the day I bought it, May 17th, 2011… Because of this, MacBook’s memory isn’t quite what it was before the accident. Articles and musings that I had written while...

Night shooting
So after shooting a couple of long exposures on the trail, I decided to take some exposures back home, especially with the Perseid Meteor showers peaking on August 13th! Unfortunately, my unwillingness to wake up at 3/4 A.M. and inclement whether meant I never got any good shots of the showers. Nonetheless, I returned for the past few nights to take some nice long exposures around the house!...

Backpacking in NH
This passed week I went backpacking just west of the Presidential Range in New Hampshire with my Dad! We went hiking the uber ritzy way, however, staying in huts along the trail, where beds were provided, and dinner and breakfast was cooked and served as well! (So it wasn’t the stereotypical ‘roughing it’ as per a usual backpacking adventure. Nonetheless, the trip was pretty...

Located in the back of The New Dandelion on Meath Street, This Is Collective’s “Trading Spaces” exhibit is a collection of installations influenced by the art and allure of trade, examining the sights, sounds, smells, touch and (almost) tastes of five unique shops in The Liberties area of Dublin. Commissioned by the Liberties Festival for the 2011 festival, “Trading Spaces” ran from Monday June...
